Gas prices right now are at an all time high, and most experts see it climbing even higher. Many think within a year we will be paying close to $5.00 a gallon. Also according to Center for Technology Assessment if The Oil Companies were to lose all their subsidies and other tax breaks they current receive, most of us in the United States could be paying as much as $15.14 a gallon.
Our economy, along with our environment are in dire straits. Since most of our oil is imported, your gasoline money goes pretty far – overseas, that is. According to the Natural Resources Defense Council, the United States only makes up 4% of the earth’s population, yet consumes 25% of the world’s oil supply. Electricity is much cheaper than gasoline, and is generated locally. The energy equivalent of one gallon of gasoline is 33.53 kWh of electricity.
Is an Electric Car conversion right for you? Do you commute less than 50 miles a day? Are you okay with plugging in your car every night to be recharged? Do you drive with the air condition on all the time? You can still use your air conditioning, but it really drains the batteries quickly, so your commuting distance may be limited.
